Carbon fibre brake rotors

88g for 160mm rotor floating disc on a carbon carrier. Not especially light but comparable alloy carrier weighs around 100g.

Anybody tried these?

Galfer road wave 160mm come in at 79g. Exceptional performance and in my experience they didn't warp once they get hot.

Carbon does not transfer heat as well and with the less metal mass of the disc, would these rotors tend to overheat? I know it may not matter for those that do not have to stop fast, but it might be an issue with the climbers.

Steel alloy is lighter .

Aluminium alloy ceramic coated is even lighter .

Seems like an absolutely nutty product. I cannot imagine the epoxy fairing well to the heat. The risk factor here just seems absolutely goober tier.

It's just for the looks and weighting the bike, then you ride something else.

Has everyone has forgotten about the Silicon Carbide-Ceramic-Carbon Bicycle Brake Rotors on Kickstarter?

They got carbon brakes on cars, not really the same as what we use carbon fiber on bicycles. Seriously light weight and seriously expensive. The mass of the rotor is huge compared to a cast iron rotor.

I cannot see how someone could make a carbon bike rotor without changing the thickness of the caliper. My guess is that it would have to be 4x thicker. Not a good thing for aerodynamics.
