15 speed cassette

320g 15 speeds cassette! SRAM RED 10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-24-28 // E13 33-39-46 cluster bolted to the 28t + new Sram Eagle XX-SL T-type Flattop chain , debunking the myth that this chain is not backward compatible with anything, got you Sram.
Having some fun experimenting with this setup, fun fact: unmodified XX1 RD is going through the entire range, on regular spacing, but it is absolutely using 100 % of the parallelogram reach! I’m using an external wireless motor and the benefit of that is total freedom to select how many gears I want, when to start and when to stop. The motor is still set to shift 12 speeds only because I’m on iphone (iOS), but the Android app can be set for 15 speeds, I’ll need to get an Android phone to do that, but for now I can at least test the limitations of the system, and I’m quite impressed that this actually might work, worse case I might need to open the derailleur and do some dremel work to have the parallelogram go just a hair more towards the wheel. But here it is!
As for chain line, I was also expecting to be a problem, but it’s not showing any substantial issues, maybe just the inconvenience to back pedal on the last 46t and the chain might drop to the 39t and to the 33t, but then I just don’t back pedal when I go out on the steeps!
To recap, this is a non-boost hub, on a boost frame, offering extra room for all 15 cogs on regular spacing. Not possible to be done on a 142mm frame.

Interesting.
1) Are you using a custom/modified (longer) freehub body or what?
2) You know that even a six speed 13/18 cluster has an 18T cog in it, right?

Regular Xd freehub, what do you mean by the 18t joke?vandenhooven wrote:Interesting.

I think it's a pretty cool idea, especially since you have used existing spacing and don't need a narrower chain.
Well done!
Show us some more pics of how it's bolted together!

I'd say he uses all of them, that's why he made it.

Everything you do looks like a Rube Goldberg contraption that I wouldn't trust riding down a sidewalk.

And I should care because?OnTheRivet wrote:Everything you do looks like a Rube Goldberg contraption that I wouldn't trust riding down a sidewalk.
As long as it’s working for me is what matters.

I use them all, my typical rides here in Boulder Colorado are either going east for some fast paced segments on the flats, or going west for hills climbs, up to 14 grade at FlagStaff mountain plus some interesting dirt roads, so this bike I’m building is a true champ that can take it all, the first half of the cassette gives me that nice road riding feel with small steps, yet, will climb anything using the second half.EdWiser wrote:I always wonder when I see all these freewheels is so you use every cog?
What ones do you actually use on a regular basis?

I thought about it, but it would only be attractive to consumers if it’s the entire ecosystem including the external wireless box.fatpinarellorider wrote:Offer a kit, sell it.
