Hi guys!

I wanted to upgrade my front end to a carbon cockpit. Currently have a aluminium stem + handlebar that came stock with the frame, theres alot of different cockpit options that are lightweight. However some also cost a fortune, would that really be worth it.

- Gemini PRÖPUS , really nice. +/- 160 gram, however max limit of 90kg and really expensive.
- THOR THE HAMMER, cockpit +/- 280 gram, really well priced. Looks clean
- Bike Ahead The Unit, +/- 229 gram, expensive, clean look and integration for garmin mount.
- Syncros Fraser iC SL XC Handlebar, 240 gram, good price, clean.

I'm using the bar mainly for XC/Single track riding, fast and hard. I want a 740mm bar with pref. a 100mm stem. 90 might do.

Anyone got any experience, suggestions or advise? Total rider weight is gonna be around 90-95kg with all the gear excluding the bike.

No experience, but from a French forum I recall that Gemini is considered lacking stiffness. Some people saying it's a similar stiffness as a Darimo handlebar+stem combo. Really like the Bikeahead one, but would like more datapoints on stiffness.

i've ridden both the bikeaheadcomposites "the unit" & the bontrager RSL & I'd happily recommend either. check the measurements as despite appearances the bikeahead is a fair bit higher in angle.

I've the 2022 brand new Syncros Fraser copckit in 740mm width and 60mm stem. It doesn't cost a fortune and the stifness is unbelievable but it weights a little bit more than you say in you post.

He was probably thinking of the older style, that is not for spark internal cable routing. That is speced 220g

Do you have to have a 1-piece stem/bar combo? If not, you could get a Darimo, Extralite, or Wren stem (or if you have to get carbon, a THM/Schmolke or Darimo would fit the bill) and a weight weenie carbon bar like a Darimo, Berg, Extralite, or the new Propus one for around the same weight as a 1-piece, be less expensive and not sacrifice any adjustability...

Had a great experience with mtzoom, they do a range of bars at ~120g and stems at ~90g

Woah - I assume both those were crash-related, but even still that's pretty crazy damage.
