The issue in this case is that the hubs are XTR, so can't be fitted with a SRAM cassette in any way.

I was thinking of going AXS for this bike, as I'm having incurable issues with the shift housing drag that I can't resolve (tried two different lengths of LEX-SL with XT cable or Jagwire Elite high polish, while two other identical bikes with the same set-up work perfectly) and was thinking of upgrading as a new RD is on the list this winter anyway. No sense sticking with a derailleur hanger if it wasn't needed.

That said, getting rid of the current rear hub, cassette, chainring and chain (all of which are performing excellently) just to get the new T-Type RD make that an inefficient upgrade, so it's off the list.

Thank you for confirming.

In that case, just get used prior gen AXS.
Too many people upgrade from prior gen AXS to Transmission anyway.

I wonder if there are new, cheaper versions of the SRAM Eagle AXS derailleurs coming or if this is just a nice price drop:

The lowest prices for the Eagle AXS XX1 derailleurs have been around 420-450 €. Now some German shops have a "new" version of the derailleur available for 380€. The same thing with the Eagle AXS GX: the lowest prices have been around 260€ and now there is a "new" version for 210€.

For example:

On ultimate you can change the top part. Replace buttons. And Ultimate has concave and convex button options.

Those cheaper ones say (No Box packaging) so might be OEM or removed from new bikes. Same with AXS controller for example. So those are probably just temporary. If you need them, then it`s a good time to buy with a nice discount.
