Anyone knows, does it take mechanical shifting?
I looked at the manual and there is provision for routing dropper post cable and rear derailleur cable through the headset

Yes, it will accept mechanical shifting as well as a dropper. All cables run to the left and right of the headset top cap through a port.

It's a fork version made specifically for the bike, isn't it? You can't just go and buy a Brain fork otherwise.

1454g for that new 35mm (??) SL SID with brain is really light. Even if the axle was not measured with it. Just an example, a MY2022 SID SL 32mm for with brain is 1506g without axle: https://gewichte.mtb-news.de/product-17 ... mate-brain
...an another one is 1514g with thru axle (maybe a ~20-25g lighter due the the black painting): https://gewichte.mtb-news.de/product-17 ... -debon-air

Wow, thanks for this info! SRAM saved approximately 50g here then - which is apparently a significant weight reduction, if we consider that the fork is still capable to work with 110mm (and in case of Scott Spark riders, with 120mm) travel.

The stanchion diameter's correlation to stiffness is overblown on modern XC forks. They are machined out so light that the flexiest part of the fork is actually around the fork crown. This is not even considering the thickness of each metal wall itself.

Manitou R7 Pro with its 32mm stanchion is way stiffer than Fox 34 Stepcast with 34mm stanchion. Thanks to Fox trying so hard to keep stanchion big and weight low to the point they compromise overall fork stiffness more than if they just use smaller stanchion and keep the fork crown rigid.

I believe Rockshox can use smaller stanchion (which also has benefit in reducing contact area with fork seals and thus, breakaway friction) and still not reducing fork stiffness, if they beef up other parts to compensate it right. They have more freedom to do so. Because they don't tie their model name with the fork stanchion diameter.

So what the Epic 2022 owner should do? Wait, or sell now and get some temporary bike? Like Epic Evo? Spark RC ?
