Pinch flats?
Yes.
Ride down stair steps which pinch and cut the tire sidewall just next to the rim hook. The tire sidewall got pinched between the stair edge and the rim. Side wall got a line cut which is way too big to be sealed by the sealant, so it's flat.

A tire with wider taller continous tread knobs would be more resistant to pinch flat, as it'd be harder to pinch the side wall (more likely to pinch on the taller knobs). Thicker tire sidewall would help also. Ultimately, a foam insert/tire liner would be the sure fire solution (that weight more).

Below are the pictures of pinch flat cut on my friend's Race King.

Edit 2: seems it's not only my friend (who pinch flatted it in 2021). There are other that found it to be the case too.

The sidewalls do stick out a lot, especially on narrow rims like how I have them on my gravel bike. I could see how on a MTB they would be questionable. I mean, I wouldn't do it anyway, they really don't have a lot of grip either and they're not as fast on pavement as people like to claim. I think a thunderburt would be a better and faster rear tire option based on my experience however I've since moved on to heavier tires with more grip.
How about Racing -Ray front and Racing-Ralph or Rocket-Ron rear?

Also, definitely lost with all the Schwalbe option, I would assume that SpeedGrip Addix is the way to go?
I don't think there's one right combo for everyone. I think they recently changed the schwalbe tire names/compounds so who knows. I had Burt/Ron for a while and it was super fast but on the lower end of how much grip I think a MTB should have.

But, the burt has more grip than it looks like it would, it's close to the race king, but it definitely rolls faster than the race king.

This week was Christmas before the date, with most of the parts received not, only waiting on the Fork.

I returned the Medium frame as I realized size wasn't right and there was some damage to the chainstay paint. Weight for the green Large frame is now 1779g (24gr more than the medium)

On the received parks, some good surprises:
- 456g for the Trail SL Magura brakes is pretty amazing given that they have 4 pistons at the front. That's only 13gr more than what I expected for the MT8 SL!
- Bang on 280g for the Berk rims 30mm internal width
- Extralite hubs look superb, and at a total of 227g, that's 56g lighter than I planned initially

Only one bad surprise: Schwalbe tires are very very porky. 1404g total (697 for ray, 707 for ralph), I'll probably go with Conti (race king rear, Cross king front) for the initial WW build.

Awesome build, Yoln.

If you're courses aren't too hilly, you can save almost 200 grams with 11 speed. 1199 cassette is 264g, xtr 11sp derailleur is 224g.

Good call on the wheels. They stood out to me reading the first post.

For my superlight rear wheels, I've had to add an insert. I have the huck norris xc in there now, it's like 60 grams.

I also do a narrower rim in the rear, 22-25mm depending. Works fine and is of course lighter.

Just finished building the wheelset, 1095g (508 front, 587 rear) bang-on what I estimated, zero surprise (good or bad).

Image

Also decided to go with Conti tires for the weightweenies v1 of the bike: CrossKing front (663g) RaceKing rear (572g), that's shaving a good 170g off of the Schwalbe option.

Also received the fork, 1479g plus 44g for the Kabolt axle, that's a little bit lighter than I accounted for

I do really like that wheelset, also kudos for the tire choice. Nice! ;)
What is the Fork, is it a Fox 34 SC like you mentioned earlier? Pretty light for a 34 SC, if yes.

Nice wheelset - lighter than the tyres!
Ref the Maguras, that looks light, is it without pads? (Guessing so with the spacers there). Pads are typically about 26g (4 pot) or 22g (2 pot) depending on make and type.
I have the Non SL levers (MT Trail sport) and they are 486g with pads (hoses cut to fit). The SL lever bodies are only 1g lighter than the non SL however you can fit carbon levers (only available for the SL) which save about 16g (12g v 28g) a side compared to aluminium.
The 4 pot calliper is about 30g (115g) heavier than the 2 pot (85g), so MT8's should/would be about 426g.

That was 456g with pads. And looks like I cut about 12g of hoses, so let's say 444g with pads and hose cut to fit

Finished 99% of the build, and we're looking at 9.360kg looks like, that's with pedals, a 160g saddle and some steerer remaining to cut. I doubt sub 9kg without pedals is achievable, but that should be very close

9.250kg as pictured.

Will probably get 150g off of it by switching to Berk Lupina Unpaded (instead of the Versus Evo Adaptive currently on it), cuting the steerer shorter, and switching to lighter axles. Sub 9kg with pedals is out of question, but easily achievable without pedals.

Also, the final build will have a Fox with remote-control instead of the current SID-lux-ultimate, adding probably around 40g. I got a great deal on a 2021 Fox Float Factory, but that was before realizing that Fox had switched to Push-to-Unlock for few year before getting back to Push-to-Lock in 2022 (which is the case for my 34 stepcast fork, so rear-shock and fork were operating in opposite direction when pushing the remote ... 🤦🏻‍♂️ ), so returned it and I'm now waiting on a 2022 PTL Fox Float

Which means that the very lightly used Sid Lux Ultimate pictured bellow will be for sale in a week if anyone is interested. So far it has one 2h ride on it, and shouldn't be much more than that since I'm supposed to receive the Fox replacement tomorrow, if anyone wants to make me an offer.
