Anyone here have insight as to the fit of the Shimano XC702 vs XC701?
I know that in the road shoes, the fit of the top line shoe tightened up vs the prior gen. I have a pair of the XC701s, but the shoe fits like a boat, not at all close around the foot. Also have a pair of the RC901, which fit pretty well, though I wouldn't mind if they were a little more snug around the instep.
I love the way Spec S-Works shoes fit, but I can't justify the expense for a shoe that's going to get torn up riding MTB in the woods.

ran my own experiment on this subject and ordered the 702s. They are marginally more fitted through the instep than the 701s, very similar in the rest of the shoe, though the vamp closed up at the front ball of the foot. They weren't a big enough improvement to warrant holding on to them, so back they went. On the plus side, they do look nicer. Guess I'll need to find some Specialized Recons instead.

I have the XC702, it fits like my RC901s.

Get the RX8s if you want a closer fitting 2-bolt shoe. Bonus is they are on clearance everywhere because the new RX8 is out.
