I currently have Mforce 3 pedals and i was wondering if i just could upgrade the spindle to the titanium version of the Mforce 8 pedals? From pictures online the pedalbody looks exacly the same and the spindles look very similar

Have you tried it, eventually? You are right, the pedals look the same, though the M-Force 8 features a titanium body whereas the M-Force 3 sports a CrMo body. Still, the swap would be nice to get rid of the bushing and rely on ball bearings only. So... did it work?
I wonder if they sell the CrMo spindles for the M-Force 8. The titanium ones are terribly expensive, and if the trick works I would gladly go for the CrMo ones.

No never tried, but I don’t like expedo pedals anymore. I use exustar now, way better clip in/out.

Thank you for your feedback. I have read mixed reviews about the Exustars, especially in terms of durability. I'm not so much into pedals with bushings, or I would have gone for the Look X-Tracks, which have a fairly good reputation (beyond their serviceability, since a proprietary tool is need). I was about to buy a pair of X-Pedo CXR (running on the same three bearings of the M-Force 8, though on a little bit different spindle, and on a maybe cheesie 6061 aluminum body) when I stumbled upon this thread, so I was wondering if tuning the cheaper M-Force 3 would have given something a bit better for the same price.

Well, I answer my self, to the benefit of whoever is thinking about such a hack. There is quite a consensus on how to hack the Xpedo pedals by swapping the spindle with the Favero Assioma power metered spindles. This works just for the three bearings Xpedo models, meaning that the M-Force 8 and the CXR, for instance, share the same spindle. A lot of people ventured in this territory, and some tried cheaper basis for this hack. Among those, the Xpedo M-Force 4 were tried, unsuccessfully (there's a discussion about this on this forum, and a much more detailed one on the trainerroad forum). The latter, now discontinued, share the same spindle of the more recent M-Force 3. So, closing the loop, even without trying on the real hardware, it is possible to infer that the M-Force 3, since not compatible with the Favero Assioma spindles, would not be compatible with the M-Force 8/CXR spindles as well. It is possible that the swap would result in the pedals not spinning as freely as they are meant to, for the end caps would pressure too much on the bearings once tightened. I wonder if the M-Force 8 caps would install on the M-Force 3, and if that would allow that bit of additional clearance needed to make them work. This is however just speculation, and trying this hack would not come cheap.
