Hi guys
very quick question, my headset needs replacing on my Kuota Kharma. I've had a look through Cane Creeks website to determine what headset bearings I have at the moment and its come back with:
Top - IS42 1-1 1/8" ISi
Bottom - IS47/33 1-1/4" IS
I know the 'i' on top indicates that its the Italian Standard (although slightly confused on why it wouldn't be on the bottom as well) but was wondering if the following would be suitable as a replacement (however it doesn't have an 'i' after the IS)
40.IS42 SHORT COVER CARBON TOP http://www.canecreek.com/products/headsets/forty
110.IS47 BOTTOM http://www.canecreek.com/products/headsets/110
Apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't seem to find anything in the search, and if anyone else has any suggestions they would be gratefully received
Thanks very much

Top bearing is 1 1/8, (FSA 870 45x45)
bottom one is 1 1/4 (FSA 970 45x45)
Mine friend Kharma(model 2007/08) got 1 1/8 bearings top and bottom.

Hi,
There really is no such thing as an Italian standard headset bearing unless you'd view the Campagnolo 45/45 standard as such.
To the best of my knowledge all Kuota bikes adhere to the Campa standard headset and are fitted with FSA bearings. Some older ones aren't using differentiated top to bottom bearings, 1 1/8" throughout or 1 1/4 to 1 1/8 when a tapered fork is used.
Ciao,

Being a snob is an expensive hobby.
Not sure about the newest Kharma, but they all used 1 1/8'' top and bottom. You might check the official Kuota shop:

Btw, my 2009 Kebel came with a rebranded Stronglight headset.
