I know, I know, calculate derailleur capacity and all that...

but I don't have time to get a new derailleur fitted and tuned before going to the mountains.
has anyone tried pushing their luck with a 12-30 on a sram force short cage derailleur?

how about a 50-34 and a 12-28? that seems to exceed derailleur capacity as well.

I've gotten a rival short cage to work with my 12-30 Tiagra cassette. Just had to max out the B-Adjustment screw. In the end, I bought a Apex wi-fli RD so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

12-28 works just fine, I'm using that right now with a compact crank. 12-30 might work, 12-32 does not from my experience.

I used 50/34 and an 11-30 cassette with 2012 Red for some climbing races last year.

May need to switch bottom pulley to 10 t, but should work. 32 may enemy work if lucky. Can also replace ramp screw with longer one, which may help. But probably okay. Better with 34-46.
