Was looking at the options of a DA cassetter to save some weight and a friend told me I can use a sram cassette which would save weight, be cheaper and I probably wouldn't notice any difference in shifting. Is this true? I'm currently running shimano ultegra cassette with ultegra derailleur.

I use both interchangably on Sram and Shimano bikes. The Shimano cassettes are slightly quieter and shift a bit better, but they both work acceptably well.
