Hi all
I have built a Open Wi.De, with Roval Terra parts, incl CLX EVO wheels.
I was thinking; can I use a road S-Works crankset with a single chainring?
Frame is BB386Evo.
Open says any Shimano/SRAM road crankset will work. So do not believe I will need a "wide" to clear the chainstays.
The outer ring position should be kinda equal to the current GRX chainline, yes?
Anything else I missed?
Do I just need a 30 mm BB386 bb?
Sorry if I am dumb
S-Works road crankset on Open gravel bike?

The S-Works crank isn't compatible with bb386. The spindle is too short.
Ignore that these are SRAM cranks, the length difference is the important part. The S Works crank spindle is the same length as the shorter spindle in this picture. The other, longer spindle, is the BB386 spindle which is what you'd need

Oh - I WAS dumb
Now I am wiser.
Went to my basement and measured the bb width on my Tarmac.
Quite obviously, that would be nah on the Open.
But just so I learn: how would, e.g. a DA crankset then work on the Tarmac? With a lot of spacers? Or a BB with outboard cups? I assume the DA cranks have the longer spindle?

Yes, the DA crank has a spindle that's the same length as the longer one in the picture above. To use on an older BB30 Specialized Tarmac, you'd use a special thread-together bottom bracket that has the bearing cups outside the frame, like this Praxis bottom bracket:ostetorben wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 9:05 pmBut just so I learn: how would, e.g. a DA crankset then work on the Tarmac?
