Hello,
Would any of you be able to recommend a rim caliper that would work with a 30mm external width wheel set? The internal width is 23mm and I will run GP5000 S TR 28mms with them. As of now I have Ultegra 8100 calipers with SwissStops Evo, but it's really tight.
Thanks a lot!

I assume direct mount is not option (you already have the frame).
One of these might work.

Will a Dura-Ace caliper with the slimmer pads that some do - Shimano and SwissStop come to mind - not cover that?
I use that setup with 28mm wide Shimano and Bontrager tubular rims and there is much clearance to spare on my setup. Another 2mm wouldn't be a problem.

No, I have a Columbus Futura Caliper fork, and and Marinoni Piuma frame with one point of insertion at the back! I currently have the Ultegra 8100 dual pivot calipers.DHG01 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 10:04 pmI assume direct mount is not option (you already have the frame).

Are Dura-Ace calipers wider than Ultegra? The Shimano website states that they are both compatible with rims that are at most 28mm wide.BdaGhisallo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 10:10 pmWill a Dura-Ace caliper with the slimmer pads that some do - Shimano and SwissStop come to mind - not cover that?

These can be adjusted to the width of the rim.

Yeah, I have seen those, but I have not seen many recent reviews, so I am hesitant to pull the triggerJoO wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 10:50 pmThese can be adjusted to the width of the rim.

Do you have lots of room between the rim and the brake pads?

I did ride 28mm brake track rims and it was no rub when sprinting.Marinoni77 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 12:03 amDo you have lots of room between the rim and the brake pads?
So question is, what is lots of room exactly and why do you need that?
What rims are you using and are you sure it's not the leading edge that is 30mm?

I bought Ascent Polaris 69s. I haven't tried them on the roads yet since I am waiting for my tires, but I did a quick check by installing the wheels without them to see if the brakes would rub. The clearance seems a bit tight (around 1mm each side) and I want to avoid brake rub as much as possible!wheelsONfire wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 8:14 amI did ride 28mm brake track rims and it was no rub when sprinting.Marinoni77 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 12:03 amDo you have lots of room between the rim and the brake pads?
