There's been a bunch of mini-threads in the SL8 and SL7 threads but long story short is that it is indeed lighter than the separate stem+bar combo but the cockpit doesn't ship with the required transition spacer to make installation smooth on the sl7. Those spacers won't ship until July/August and even then it's a dealer part order.

I have the bars on the way and got my dealer to pre-order the part.

Does the SL7 not come with a headset cover like Venge which is to accomodate a standard stem? That would look clean enough, imo (it's what I use on my Venge with VR-C RSL bar)

I guess people don't want to (I wouldn't) disconnect brake hoses and rebleed the system to swap the headset cover. And many may not have that headset cover anymore.

Yep that's my SL7 and no not installed the bars as waiting on Racewear.co for some spacers first so hopefully buy the end of this month perhaps 🤔.
Specialized have no firm dates for the spacers yet and cannot be bothered to swap bars twice

To install this bar you need to disconnect the hoses.

Now can he thin it out by 10mm so that people with slammed stems can use the new bars?

It specifically mentions that the image includes a factory SL7 spacer which is not included... And that the transition adapter itself is only 10mm tall, so no he can't reduce that to zero... LOL.

This handlebar sure does seem like a miss... The fact that they release it before you can even get the proper adapter to make it fit well onto the bike that 90% of them will end up on is mind boggling. I can't help but wonder if there were some delays in releasing an SL8 and they had this bar already done, so they launched it prior to the SL8 in which its designed around???

Regardless, they also seemed to miss the mark with the sizing, with 38cm being the narrowest. Unless as its been discussed in the SL8 thread, their waiting to release a 35/36cm version on the SL8 so they can tout it as 5% more aerodynamic than the SL7( of which 4% of that savings will be the narrower bar).
