Meh. Removing small-small slows down wheel changes. The fact that Shimano and Sram axs have to do this is embarrassing.
????
Positioning the chain on small chainring and smallest cog makes removing and replacing the rear wheel easier and much faster. I feel like you should know this. But maybe not. Hence the need for locking them out.
My New 105 Di2 12speed can shift small-small. My Dura Ace shifts only to third smallest cog. I do not see this a problem as I do not ride these gears on the small chainring. I tend to use big chainring with bigger sprockets as this is said to be more efficient than small chainring and smallest cogs.
As I have heard from my friends, Dura Ace and Ultegra can be programmed to shift small-small as well.
I got totally hosed on a group ride once because my battery died and I was stuck in the small ring, but it couldn't go into the small small (11 speed) I did notice my new 12 speed can do it. Guess I need to finally break down and get the 11 speed wireless dongle and look at the program.

You just need to check your battery more often than once in 2 two months, IMHO :D You can ride at leat 3.000km on full charge :)

Good morning, does anyone use 53-R9100/38-R9000 in the front along with the 9200 front deraileur ? Or, 54-R9100/39-R9100, or 54-R9100/38-R9000 ? I have tried these combinations but I did not manage to make the front mech to work properly. Thanks.

I initially tried the 54/39T combo (15 teeth difference). I can accept this as the R9100 is actually made for a 54/42T combination. Yet, the 38/53T should(?) work as there is just a 15 teeth difference.

What makes you think that Shimano is going to do anything other than their typical 4 year update cycle for Dura Ace?
2004 - 7800
2008 - 7900
2012 - 9000
2016 - 9100
2020 -
I lost track in the last years about new releases. when was 9200 released/ announced?
Announced 2021 released and actually available 2022 due to Covid related production issues in the industry.

So 9300 might happen not before 2025 or 2026?

R9200 was announced in the summer of 2021 and is year 2022 product. They also, of course, announced R8100 Ultegra at the same time and they don't ordinarily do that. Ultegra usually follows a year behind Ultegra but the pandemic f'ed up a lot of things.

Your list is off by a year if you're listing the product years for those generations of DA, but for 7800. That was 2004 product year. Otherwise, your list shows the year in which each successive generation was announced for the following product year.

If 9200 and other current gens are robust, I imagine Shimano will run them hard for full cycle and a bit to offset contextual economic factors post COVID and recall.

Anyone know if you can just mount the 56t chainring on the Dura-Ace crank? Now there is a 54t chainring installed with the hidden bolts.

Do the Shimano 12-speed derailleur work with the 10-33 SRAM cassettes?

It was already mentioned a couple of times on the forum that there are a lot off cassettes with a ticking problem on the 5th cog (Ultegra and dura ace). The only solution was/is a new cassette and hoping that it’s okay.
Yesterday I installed a new casette for the last winter months and it’s a new ultegra batch casette. And guess what… the ticking stills exist but now on the 4th cog 😂🙈

i had a completely different experience, the new 11-34 CS-R8101 (new revision) solved the ticking for me.

I’m gonna try that version.
From what i heard there are 2 new cassettes: a revision of the 8100 version and a new 8101 version which suit electronic and mechanical shifting.

Hi guys, I seem to have an issue with an R9250 RD connecting it to my Garmin 1040. I have a couple of bikes set up with this model RD without issue, so I'm fitting this new one to a new build, it syncs fine with the rest of the components and shifts etc but when it comes to connecting to the Garmin it causes the Garmin to turn off then on again and off and it won't stop until I remove power from the RD!

Any ideas? :noidea:
