Got some Zipp SL70 aero bars which allow internal routing of cables but as Zipp is owned by SRAM the holes suit SRAM not my shimano meaning the brake cable needs to have a tight bend and go over the top of the bar to fit into the hole.

Is this usual - anyone got mechanical shifters and fitted these bars with internal routing with success. ?

Any help appreciated

i fitted mine with campag mechanical, no issue. Don't think there will be any issue with Shimano mechanical also.

Currently now on shimano di2, both the electrical wire and brake cable share the same hole.

Thats the dream mate, main issue here is knowing if you can move the cabe to the other side of the shifter.

I had the Zipp Vuka Sprint bars and getting the cables routed was horribly frustrating. The bend at the drop was very sharp. It did work in the end though.

ran them like this, due to both cables coming out one side and needing on on either side.

That looks brilliant - Do you mind telling me did you do the same as me with the routing mate ? to address both cables coming out the same side ? Did you bring it over the top like I have pictured above ?
