Specialized Tarmac Di2 What to replace?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
I'm a proud owner of a Specialized Tarmac Elite which I've upgraded with an Ultegra Di2 groupset.
Last week I was in the bike shop and weighted my bike, and it was 8.6 kilo (8600 gram). Not that bad, but I think it's possible to get a kilo off.
I listed all parts in an excel sheet and came to a lower number, so I think I've forgot something.
Here is the Excel sheet of my listings:

My question is what you guys would recommend to replace? And for which alternative.

Wheels. I guess yours are really heavy.

The bike looks nice! But 420 grams for handlebars! loks to be saved there at a relative cheap price!
Maybe this way you can see what you can change on your bike

Why do you want to make you bike any lighter? To climb mountains right?
Those 60mm wheels are useless in the mountains. Get a set of fulcrum zero's and you lose 0,5kg.
When riding on a flat area u can still use the FFWD's, weight doesn't matter that much if there are no hills.

If OP has Ffwd 60mm in tubs, it should be 1.35kg.. Can't see clearly due to the low pic resolution

Great looking bike!
I agree with Alpinestar, the handlebars are a good start, I am surprised of the stem too, you could put a Uno stem on it or lyti. I would keep the saddle though, I find the toupe really comfortable and not too heavy

If you want to make it lighter:
1) Wheelset. It's easy to get something around 1,350-1,400 grams these days, or even lower.
2) Stem (anything more than 120-130grams seem heavy)
3) Handlebar (should easily find one around 200g-250g, 400g is rather porky)
4) Crankset (consider a DA)
5) Brakes (get DA or EE breaks)
6) Pedals, drop the 105s for DA.
And so on. Before you know it, you have a 6.8kg bike.

S-Works stem 100 grams? Last I checked, Specialized stems are over 140 grams.

Like 80% of the people who rides a tarmac, they don't fit on it. So that 80/90 stem could easily weigh 140 grams?
