Rotor 3D P2M and 386evo Compatibility

I know there's been mention of this in the P2Max threads but not sure whether it's referred to using a 3D+ (30mm spindle) directly into a 386evo BB.

Looking at changing my frame and been looking at Wilier specifically (zero7), but already have 2 sets of Rotor 3D's along with a classic P2m, and an S type. Don't want to change either of those out really.

What i want to know is, if the clearance issues are still there when using adaptors such as the wheels manufacturing ones to take it down to 24mm.

Use Rotor's BB: Press fit 4630mm converter with Steel bearings:

According to Rotor's UBB compatibility chart the 3D is not compatible with BB386 EVO.

cobrakai, UBB has 30mm spindle. According to that chart it should work with PF 4630mm converter. But I haven't tried it.

Actually there are two UBBs, UBB24 and UBB30.

The Rotor 3D24 crankset has a 24 mm spindle and the Rotor 3D+, 3D30, and Flow have 30 mm spindles. The 30 mm spindle cranks are compatible, but if I interpreted the OP correctly he has a 24 mm spindle which is not compatible with 386 Evo. http://rotorbike.com/media/files/2012/1 ... 662396.pdf

Right, i have 3D24's.

Highdraws link just appears to show that Rotor dont make a "ubb24" that is 386evo compatible.

It's not really a BB issue i'm looking at.

What i need to know is if a Power2max (either classic or S type) mounted on 3D24 used in conjuction with bearing adaptors (down from 30mm) will still have clearance problems with i presume the increased bulk of the 386evo shell.

I would send an email to power2max, they are supposed to have great customer service and will hopefully know the answer to your question. I did a quick search and found this post that indicates it may work: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=131404&view=next

Seems as though the OP has a 24mm spindle diameter crank with the 3D. You look to be correct. Rotor doesn't list a BB for the 386Evo for 24mm spindle...only the 30mm 3D+

OP...basically what BB386 EVO is...is a widely spaced PF30..same BB as PF30.
But a PF30 BB is for a 30mm spindle. So if you want to run your regular 24mm 3D cranks which are similar in spindle geometry to DA and Ultegra...you need some spacers.

Or you could use the Kogel 386 rotor24 BB. http://kogelbearings.mysimplestore.com/ ... ano-cranks

I tend to try and avoid adapters that add another piece to the puzzle, such as the Wheels MFG option, but that is just me.
Haven't had experience with that BB in particular, but can attest to their other offerings. Quality is very good.
As someone has already mentioned, really depends on frame clearance. If that checks out you shouldn't have a problem.

Highdraw- I know exactly what a 386evo is (and what other BB systems are).
I also know what system i am currently running , and am aware of problems that have existed with certain parts of my potential build.
What wasn't clear in the past was what was the determinant factor in what worked ,and what did didn't.

Hopefully cobrakai and also Hornedfrog have helped to unmuddy the waters somewhat :)
