Weight Weenies

In reading through lots of threads, the clearcoat that is suggested is often not available in Australia.

I've seen 303 Aerospace Protectant mentioned, but realised (after googling) that this wasn't a spray on paint.

What is recommended finish when looking to achieve a more matte look - Polyurethane clear coat (spray can) or some sort of protectant that is regularly applied like 303 ?

I'm not the right person to help you cause that part of job i asked my dad! He works as a car painter in a work shop, and i couldn't choose the matte look clear coat because he works for a big company only with white cars so he uses always the brilliant kind! But he used a normal clear coat used in cars.

So he just applied a normal clear coat over the sanded surface ?

As far as i know, yes! Is it a problem? He been work with paint since he's like 17 years old, if it would be wrong to do it i think he would know!

You post " raw carbon look" If you want a raw carbon look then don't clear coat it. 303 will give you all the protection you need.
That's what I have been doing for years. My Trek especially ,is about as raw as you can get.

It was my first idea but them decide to give it a try with clear coat and i'm happy with the final result! Your trek is awesome! I've change my mind cause i wont have a raw carbon frame as you have in the Trek and i already have new parts with clear coat finish, so i wanted everything matching!

No problem, just checking how the finish was achieved, as that's sort of the look I was after.

I've managed to source a UV stabilised Polyurethane in spray pack but in Satin finish, so that's what I will be using

Nice, show us the result when you finish! Yesterday i gave my dad the sanded paper levers. I will get it withind 2 days and after i will do the same with a FSA seatpost. Also get my izalco max frame during this week!
