Between these two great bikes. I intend to use this as my all-rounder and even take it on my weekend rides.

Given that you know both are great bikes maybe you can based your decision on your budget or the looks? Both are top end offerings so you can't go wrong either way

But there must be differences between the two.
One might be more comfortable than the other, climb better, etc.

Climbs as well as your legs will let it. I know you can't ride the Canyon, but find a BMC dealer and test ride the SLR. Neither bike will hold you back from what you want to do with it.
Which one excites you most when you look at it? That's the one you'll ride more.

Copying this from another thread:
Lateral Stiffness (Higher the better)
BMC TeamMachine SLR01 101 Nm/deg
Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0 SL 101 Nm/deg
BMC TimeMachine TMR01 95 Nm/deg
Canyon Aeroad CF 9.0 SL 85 Nm/deg
vertical compliance (lower the better)
Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0 SL 92 N/mm
BMC TeamMachine SLR01 132 N/mm
Canyon Aeroad CF 9.0 SL 140 N/mm
BMC TimeMachine TMR01 322 N/mm
So between the two they are equally laterally stiff but the SLX is vertically more compliant. I own a SLX and can confirm that it rides over bumps like no other bike Ive ever owned

The Canyon is much cheaper, better and better looking.....so it's easy ! If you want to spent more money and/or don't like the Canyon looks it's easy too. Real bestriding is mostly only possible on Canyon's test days. I don't know if BMC has that. Most dealer won't let you really test ride (a little round on the bike says almost nothing....)

You mean order one with a mouse click?
well they are quite different frames...the bmc is known to be much more compliant compared to the canyon..the rear particularly.
like the test results above, i read a few others that support this..
i say let geometry decide, then looks (which they are very different as well)

Actually, the results above suggest the Canyon is more compliant.
I say, get the Canyon and save the money to get some badass parts to bling up your bike...
Get the canyon, I rode both back to back within 3 days in between. My two buddies have them and let me rode each. I say bmc feels lighter (2014 slr01) but the canyon just feels more planted around bends and easier to pedal effortlessly out of corners when I try to catch up to my group. I'm not the fastest or stronger one usually, but canyon slx does help a lot for that day.
I have both SLR001 (2012/53) and CF evo (not slx, 2011/54) both have sram red. 35000km on Canyon and 22000 km on BMC.
The only difference between two bikes is Canyon is more comfortable on bad roads and BMC is slightly more agile on descents. But they are old frames now, maybe the new ones more equal.

i would get the Canyon regardless, wouldn't even consider the BMC personally ...
