They are still some of the absolute stiffest wheels with a unique behaviour in acceleration. Aero was ahead of its time by not respecting Etrto regulations making a better tire-rim profile.

Why is this a Freak? The guy did 25mph which isn't too shabby. The bike is old but hardly freaky. At least he's out there riding and not that slow.

Methinks a freak cause how many considering the equip can go that fast. A good kind of freak to be sure.
Makes one wonder what he could do on a fast ride.............

Just a shame that UCI ARTICLE 1.3.020 states
“For road competitions other than time trials and for cyclo-cross competitions, the frame of the bicycle shall be of a traditional pattern, i.e. built around a main triangle"
Otherwise everyone on the Tour would be riding one of these beauties
