..also light enough for hilly road races? Durability is important, so I'm guessing maybe staying away from carbon would make sense. I have a set of Enve 4.5s I race with that are about 1450 grams.

Light, durable and alloy. Maybe something like Shimano Dura Ace C24?

Actually carbon is more durable than alloy rims. How hilly is hilly. Carbon rimmed wheels should be fine with hilly.

C24 are light but not durable. The brake track is thin, they are not very stiff and your enve's are the same weight.

To get lighter you really need to go with carbon tubular wheels. No point in buying wheels that save 100g as you wont notice, with tubular rims 1000g is realistic.

Not interested in the tubs for an everyday wheelset, been there, done that. Yes, Tubs are really the only way to drop 300-400 beyond the 4.5s. Was thinking the R-SYS SLRs at 1290 grams. There is nothing lighter in a clincher without getting crazy expensive.

And you don't think the R-SYS SLR's are crazy expensive? I have a set of Tune Mig70/Mag170 with a Kinlin rim that's below 1300 grams. Quite a bit less expensive than the R-SYS, and a lot more sexy.

How much did that set cost you? I see the hubs go for about $540 Fair wheel. The mavics can be had for a little over 1400, which do come with some not so great tires and tubs..LOL

The cleaning the old glue when it needs to be done. I had bad luck and punctured a few times, where once I could not get the old tire off the freakin rim to put the spare on :unbelievable: I was a clincher guy who gave the tubs a try, but went back. I feel with really nice tires and latex tubes, the ride is really close to tubs. Biggest advantage for tubes is that you can ride on a flat to the wheel pit in a crit.

Not racing, and using Latex inner tubes, and last tire set i have (Vittoria Corsa G+), have very nice feeling this way.

Also roads are bad here, and i ride a lot of mountains. I was thinking to upgrade to Bora 35 Tubs, but Seem that i should stay on my Shamal Ultra clinchers

Ryde pulse sprint on extralite hubs 1200g and cheaper than the mavics your looking at.

I thknk the kinlin xr22t on carbon ti hubs would be better for daily all weather use. way cheaper than the mavics but 1330g.
