Decision made.
Not the lightest frame I have, but the most I like.
Frame weight : 1430g
Fork weight : 570g

Currently Vittoria XN 31 cross, But clearance is for 2" :) ...almost. 1.9 easy.

I can't wait as well, making decision takes more than build...

Idea is cross+cummuting ( to work 7.5km, but from work it can be nice 40 ), also bad weather bike .

If you have clearance for a 1.9" tyre you can fit some conti mud kings or schwalbe marathon supreme tubeless or marathon all road tubeless in there wider sizes.

If you have the sapce fill it with tyre.

I vote for Red 22.
Even though the initial frame/fork isn't light, might as well go light where/when you can.
Plus Red is quite durable.

I'm leaning towards Sram too. Shorter reach of levers, lower weight and double tap ... to not mention no-trim ( I find trimming extremely annoying ).

Frame weight isn't so bad in that ( BIG ) size and tons of paint. It's design from 2012 so.... not bad at all. In cross bike I like few grams more in some places.

I found some mark from lever clamp on bar, sanded it and Easton sticker appeared underneath I suppose that bar isn't one mold and is glued from pieces ( like 3T ) .... tap sound is fine, not even single sound due to bend test... but somehow I have doubts about using it ... so reserve bar will possibly replace it ( Deda Zero100 ) .

I have bad experience with Conti. Currently have 1st ever straight GP4000s which didn't explode at sidewall, and don't get flat every 5km... That's my only Continental ( except car ;) ) , and such experience won't happened again to me. I know plenty of people happy with their Conti tires, but .... no. Absolutely not.


Something around 38-40mm is more than enoough for me for the forest/ gravel so will try when wear what I have now ( Vittoria Cross Xn & Xg plus Challenge Baby Limus. For paved road have Conti and Pirelli @28mm.


Edit : I sanded possible crack further; under 1st layer is white band and sticker with bar model. This band seems to be kind of fiberglass :if it is then it's extremely high density, not very common thing ( I know something about it, working in boat business ) . Perhaps it's kind of reinforcement... placed exactly in clamping area of Shimano lever (???). Or sord of filler where 2 bar pieces are bonded... . No idea. Anyway, no visible nor acoustic damage on fiber.

yes conti road tyres are fragile there mtb tyres are more robust. i have been using conti mtb tyres for a while. they are good all rounders without excelling in one area. however if your desire is for 38-40mm then panracer gravel kings or schwalble marathon surpreme tubeless would be my choice. IRC have a gravel tyre coming out but as i have not ridden it who knows what it is like. there is no shortage of tyres for gravel bikes though.

Bike done. 8.4 kg with shimano pedals ( quartz carbon ti on image ). Bar tape very temporary. After short test ride.... I like it !

Aceton removes all white from Vibe stem.

Bike is not final. I used old bar tape just to make test ride. BB will be changed for C-Bear, Pedals for XT ( can't use to Quartz ) , end of this week 46& 36 chainrings should arrive. Stem Height isn't established yet, so some spacers still above it. Due to local conditions need to put protective tape here & there- again will arrive within few days.

BTW Easiest build ever- even derailleur hanger was dead straight :shock:
